During the early part of the eighties Nijmegen got a new sponsor in "Vissers Meubelen". Nijmegen won that title with a mix of almost only young Nijmegen born players combined with skilled imports such as Willie Desjardins (a player with strong leadership skills and a natural goal scorer), Todd Lecy (U. of Wisconsin, NCAA) and Donald Fraser (who already played for Nijmegen in the 1982-1983 season).

The following year Nijmegen played in the first round of the European cup against HS Luxemburg and won with 26:0.
