1995 - 2000
This second part of the nineties is without doubt the most successful period for the Nijmegen hockey organization. Veteran players such as Theo Kruger, Robert Herckenrath and Tommie Speel returned to Nijmegen after they left when Nijmegen went bankrupt after the 93-94 season. These players decided that all they wanted to do was play hockey and took a massive salary cut to do that with Nijmegen. Players like Mark Visschers, Honore Loos, Jordy Geesink where now more seasoned whereas players like Frank Janssen and Henri Stoer already where Dutch National team players. All combined, these players formed a strong Dutch line up which was the foundation for a series of titles in the second half of the nineties. In addition to these Dutch players a strong Canadian influence impacted Nijmegen due to players like Ray Gallagher and Jason McKechnie. McKechnie would become the import player who racked up the most points during his 8 year tenure in Nijmegen.
In the 1996-97 season local car dealership 'Van Heumen Mazda' took over as being the main sponsor. Before the season also the Nijmegen hockey team moved away from their old hockey rink in Heyendaal. Nijmegen played nearly 30 years there.
In a newer part of Nijmegen, a city area called Dukenburg, a new rink was build, the Triavium. In the 1996-1997 season also Nijmegen born defender Robbert Prick van Wely re-joined the line up, bringing extra depth in defense. From Tilburg Dutch International Henry de Kort joined Nijmegen as well. In a play off series against old rivals Tilburg Nijmegen was able the win the title that year.
In 1997 former Nijmegen player Steve Kruize also returned after playing for Tilburg and German DEL team Augsburg. From Slovakia Robert Vrba also joined the ranks. He stayed with Nijmegen for a 6 year period in total. Czech coach Jaro Mucha was signed as headcoach and unfortunately before this season Robert Herckenrath suddenly retired from hockey. Despite the new coach Nijmegen struggled and throughout the start of the season all kind of incidents happened. Because of the turmoil coach Mucha left during the regular season. Later in the season both Robert Herckenrath and former Dutch topscorer Ben Tijnagel returned for the play offs to support Nijmegen altough both officially retired from hockey. However as Nijmegen struggled throughout the entire season both players returned as Nijmegen missed leadership on the ice. In a play off series against old rivals Tilburg, Nijmegen was again able to win the title again. Greatly due to the leadership of Herckenrath and Tijnagel Nijmegen lost only 3 of their last 26! games of the season. This championship was the 5th title in the history of hockey in Nijmegen.
A company called 'Agio Huys' became Nijmegen's sponsor in the 1998-1999 season. New players that season where
for instance Peter Hegyi and JC Larocque. Former player Henri Stoer acted as coach. In this period also talented players like Bob Teunissen and Nick de Jong joined the first team coming from the Nijmegen youth program. During that season also former Rotterdam coach Dan Cameron joined the Nijmegen organization to help out in the bench. That year also Jeremy Freid was acquired from Dutch rivals Heerenveen Flyers. As he won the supercup that year with Heerenveen (a match between the reigning champions and the cup winner of the previous year) and due to the fact that Nijmegen continued to win the Dutch title made him the only player to win all available prices that year. This was Nijmegen's 6th title.
For the 1999-2000 season former legend Harrie van Heumen started out as coach and Nijmegen acquired Kyle Peterson. Nijmegen still being sponsored by Agio Huys became champion that year for the 7th time. Following years.
